SKETCHBOOK ETHICS

1. Never live without a sketchbook.
2. Work in your sketchbook daily; it is not an excuse to say "I don't have time".
3. Use your sketchbook like a diary for remembering ideas, people & places you have been with sketches, cutting and pasting and writing.
4. Related interests should be pasted in your sketchbook with your comments.
5. Review books, shows, notes on art events and magazines you have skimmed.
6. Copy master drawings.
7. Thumbnail sketches as preliminary drawings of class and homework assignments.
8. Use your sketchbook to explore media and techniques.
9. Practice sketching real & imaginary spaces.
10. Drawings need not be “finished.” You need quality of observations in your sketchbook.
11. Make sure all loose idea is pasted down so nothing will escape out of your book.
12. Carry your sketchbook with you at all times and to each drawing class (and beyond class). Think of it as an external memory storage.
13. You may use the sketchbook for some other purposes (lit the barbecue).
14. If you are brave, exchange the sketchbook with another student.
15. Enjoy in creating a new habit.
